371 sqm – design by Jacqueline Morabito – living accommodation
Formerly the stables of the castel of Opio, this 18th-century building has been completely restructured and renovated by interior architect Jacqueline Morabito. It is set in 3,500 m² sqm of grounds with century-old trees, offering a clear view of the valley. An old stone swimming pool is enthroned in the midst of the garden.
As soon as we step through the door, we are plunged into the world of this well-known interior designer. The floor with its nuances of white sets the scene, emphasizing the residence’s authenticity. A large hall leads to an artist’s kitchen with a pantry, next to the dining-room with its fireplace. This area is prolonged by a large lounge opening out to a library with the atmosphere of a crypt. Original rock juts out from the floor as a decorative feature, underscoring the purity of the room.
Further on, a second living-room leads to a double bedroom with a shower room and adjacent terrace. On the other side of the building, down below the entrance hall, a passageway leads to a reading-room and study. To the right of this room, a small staircase leads to a bedroom with shower room. In the main lounge, another staircase takes us to the upper floors.
The first floor is comprised of three bedrooms including a suite, two bathrooms, and a small sitting-room in which old frescos re-emerge from another era.
The second/top floor offers generous volumes, comprised of three open areas forming the master suite. A sleeping area, opening out to a large den and prolonged by a lounge. The suite also proposes a shower room and walk-in closet.
One immediately recognizes the intuitive skilfulness, the magic wand of interior decorator Jacqueline Morabito, her unique way of focusing on white and minerals to to give an interior a chic and serene soul. A creative and poetic reinterpretation of a place steeped in history, where time holds no sway, ready to challenge the centuries to come.

A multi-facetted designer whose work encompasses the design of objects, sculpture and interior architecture, Jacqueline Morabito could well have lived at the time of the Italian Renaissance, like those all-round artists whose talent expressed itself with the same sensitivity in different fields: drawing, painting, architecture… A native of the region of Nice, she is fond of traditional objects and know-how that she reinterprets within decidedly contemporary contexts.
