200 m2 – design by Broissand Architectes – living accommodation
At the heart of a residential area on the commune of Mougins, nicknamed the “garden city” and well-known for its gastronomic restaurants and art-galleries, the villa is 2.6 kilometres from the historic centre and 26.6 kilometres from Nice Airport.
Built in 2013, this house with highly assertive design is the work of a Parisian firm of architects. It echoes the topography of its grounds of 1,500 sq.metres, stretching out lengthwise. The villa is presented in the guise of a walkway, a real architectural circuit leading the visitor from the entrance to the pool. With several out-jutting features and intelligently designed openings, the architecture offers a number of different view-points.
The shape of the pool participates in the continuity of the villa’s unusual architecture. The living space of approx. 200 sq. metres is laid out on three floors facing south-east. Mainly comprised of glass, the facades reflect the light and surrounding nature.
The ground floor opens to an entrance hall with a half bearing lit by a skylight. A staircase leads to the various floors. The garden level is comprised of the living area, a kitchen opening out to a large cathedral lounge with a slate hearth facing the pool and garden, a perfect example of osmosis with the Mediterranean art of living. A rear kitchen with a laundry room leads to a very large cellar in the basement. This floor is completed by a guest-room with an adjoining shower room. On the upper floor, a small bedroom, a master suite with its bathroom and walk-in closet, and a mezzanine overlooking the lounge used as a study. Finally, a workshop next to the garage could provide a large independent bedroom.
The use of large, light floor slabs unifies the rooms, underscoring the feeling of continuity between the various spaces. Inside the villa, light and transparency magnify the architectural style, further accentuated by large doors and windows. The terraces surrounding the house are covered with teak, offering different relaxation areas.
The house benefits from technical amenities including an alarm system, insulated glass, underfloor heating with electric pump, centralized vacuum system…

“The villa winds its way between the obstacles it encounters (perspectives, difficult terrain, slopes etc.) like a snake in the jungle – “The Snake”.” Renaud Broissand
